SPECIAL GAY SUMMER CAMP FOR YOUNG KIDS?!

(B. Brown) A Gay Camp for kids though?. Really? You know, I’m never one to bash the Gay/Lesbian community but I believe this is going a bit too far. As kids we make decisions and do things that we grow up to regret. We work on emotion when we are kids, not logic. We do not think past go.

Do you know how bad these kids can be teased when they go back to school and other kids find out?Each and everyone of these parents should be thrown in jail. Let your child grow up and actually make a choice on life when their at a suitable age to do so! Why in the hell are we allowing a child as young as 3 to decide that they want to be gay? Why is sexual attraction even a area of focus?!? 

I swear, We have to get the Men In Black on the phone line and let them know we have a major attack of aliens on earth, because the decisions society makes is truly starting to scare me.

What happens if they get older and decide the lifestyle they once thought was right is a thing of the past? I simply believe putting any child into a situation like this Gay Camp is unacceptable by all means and has no place in our society. 

If you feel as though you want to make your kids more comfortable about their choice, so be it. Do it in the comfort of your own home. Thats if you want your CHILD, making such a MAJOR decision before their even 8 years old. (pfft).But don’t make some 4 day spectacle out of these kids.

The images in this article are purely disgusting in my eyes. I can imagine the social backlash this will have. Hopefully we don’t hear future cases of suicide and murder.I will surely speak my opinion on this and more in my weekly Vlog.-Blade Brown

Over the past three years, photographer Lindsay Morris has been documenting a four-day camp for gender nonconforming boys and their parents.

The Gay Camp, “You Are You” (the name has been changed to protect the privacy of the children and is also the name of Morris’ series), is for “Parents who don’t have a gender-confirming 3-year-old who wants to wear high heels and prefers to go down the pink aisle in K-Mart and not that nasty dark boys’ aisle,” Morris said with a laugh.

It is also a place for both parents and children to feel protected in an environment that encourages free expression.

“[The kids] don’t have to look over their shoulders, and they can let down their guard. Those are four days when none of that matters, and they are surrounded by family members who support them,” Morris said.

Morris has stated that her photographic goal for the project is “to represent the spirit of these boys as they shine.” Some of the ways in which the kids shine is through the talent and fashion shows at camp that are popular and for which the campers come well-prepared.
